her own lips twitch to form her own smirk, he seemed to draw out the
cocky side of competitiveness in her and she loved it. it was fun to fight
with not only someone close to her own age, but also someone who
wouldn’t hold back on you. ‘ you think i’m not brawny enough ?! excuse
me i’m as strong as anyone at this camp, and what i lack in ‘muscle mass’
i make up for in agility. rock wall champion of 07′ never forget !!! ‘

shrugging off the bow from around her chest she set it to the side
he was right, it wasn’t good for close combat - there was no point
in distracting him with it now. instead choosing to pick up the sword
propped up next to where the bow now balanced.

‘ poor baby, no wonder you never win. you’ve got the brawn but
where’s the brain ??? ‘ gracefully swinging the sword around in
a few theatrical movements before extending the blade towards
him. there was a tickle traveling down her arm caused by  a
drop of blood trickling down her upper arm to her elbow before
dripping off onto the ground. “ i’ll be fine. i’m not quiting till you tell
me what you’re hiding. you’re entire cabin may be clueless but i
know you too well to know your normal brooding never gets THIS
                     bad.”

❛    agility & brawn are not the same, & you know it.     ❜ though she had a point ; both were incredibly important in a life-or-death situation … situations which non-year-rounders seemed to find themselves in often. a nod of approval as liz picks up the sword, but her teasing serves little more than to widen his smirk. children of hermes were blessed not only with agility, but brains & brawn along with it ( though the latter often needed more work than the others ; luke’s brothers often seemed to prefer to rely on their quick wit & silver tongues more than their battle skills, regardless the risk ). he’s ready to attack, sinewy muscles stretching taut under orange shirt as he prepares himself, when liz’s next words strike. a flashback to last night, the night before - he stopped counting long ago how long it’s been - ; flashback to him waking up drenched in sweat, remnants of fear still catching in his throat, & a fading memory of that voice. he doesn’t remember the last time he slept well ; the last night spent without a nightmare. but is it a nightmare if it’s real? is it a nightmare if it systematically breaks you down, piece by piece, until you’re nothing but anger & hurt, vengeful & power-hungry, waiting until you’re weak enough to say yes? a slight shiver runs through him, & a burning desire for distraction ; to wear himself out so completely that he can drift off into the dreamless sleep of exhaustion ( maybe then, he’ll sleep a full night ). ❛    you should get yourself checked for paranoia, liz - or emotional blindness ; this has always been my normal level of brooding.      ❜ & without warning he advances, & lunges.
